the Chaton Family is spesialsed in forgotten grape variety. It is a family business established in 1944. They are also growing: Himbercha, Gwäss, Eyholzer, Planscher. Some recent reaserch in Davis University in Califrnia underlined that Gwäss might one of the oldest Grape Variety in the world.
They also have one of the hisghest vineyard in Europe; the Vispertrerminen
Comes from the French Jurassic, presumably pre-Christian origin. Hence the name Heidawein - Heida. Prime wine of the Chantons - fascinatingly newly pressed: Very late - usually only in December! - and harvested with excellent Öchsle grades and slowly matured in barriques for a year.
